A few months back, Roomie home automation software had a little upgrade. However, the company apparently wasn’t finished tweaking, so now they have a new version of the control option, known as Roomie 3.1.
Just as a quickie backgrounder, Roomie home automation software can control everything from AV to lighting to shades and more. It also does that wirelessly via your iOS devices, without the need for touchpanels or other remotes.
This latest version, however, adds in a slew of interesting features—and interesting devices. Roomie 3.1 now supports the Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, LG Smart TVs and webOS TVs, SmartThings Connect devices, Insteon devices, and even Denon HEOS media players. (Even CasaTunes just separately announced its multiroom music servers will now work with Roomie.)
Existing users will also find all sorts of enhancements for other devices. For instance, Roomie 3.1 now has an Apple TV Media Guide and an Apple TV iTunes Guide, as well as media guides for Denon HEOS, Dune HD and Mede8er players with Kodi, and LG TVs. The company is also adding DISH DVR recording and timers for Hopper and Joey users. There are even new global triggers based on time of day or Buttons or Activities. There are also tons of other fixes, tweaks and other improvements. For a complete list of new Roomie 3.1 features and functions, check out the company’s website.
Roomie 3.1 home automation software is available now through iTunes. The $9.99 app fee will control up to three devices, with upgrades available in packs of 10 for $19.99 each. There’s also a service fee, which includes the media guides and more. Users can opt to pay monthly ($1.99), every six months ($9.99), or for a year’s worth ($16.99) of service. If you’re interested in trying out the app, there’s also a free Roomie Solo option for TiVo, DirecTV, and Roku devices.
