Adding in sensors can make your smart home—well, even smarter. Qolsys knows this, so the company has debuted a pair of new sensors to expand its portfolio of connected sensors and smart devices.
The Qolsys IQ Temp can alert homeowners to severe temperature changes, as well as extreme high and extreme low temperatures. Those warnings could save you from costly damage caused by: freezing pipes, high energy bills, or just having an uncomfortable house.
Once you set desired temperatures, the IQ Temp will monitor for anything out of the norm. If something strange is detected, the IQ Temp can deliver notifications via text messages or on-screen alerts right on the IQ Panel. Also worth noting is that the IQ Temp has a new antenna design that boasts a better performance on a variety of surfaces. It also has a battery life that ranges from 8 to 10 years.
The second new sensor is the IQ Siren, a wireless Z-Wave siren that’s designed to be: a complement to your security and smart home system. Just plug it into any outlet and connect it to the Qolsys system. The: IQ Siren can: provide a 105dB warning siren and three LED lights that strobe in case of an event—which can be anything you choose.
Because it’s so easy to install, you can put multiple sirens anywhere in the home. And you may want to do that, since it also acts as a repeater to boost your Z-Wave network. Other features include a gen-5 Z-Wave chip and a 3-hour rechargeable backup battery.
“We know there’s room for innovation in every room,” says Mike Hackett, Qolsys SVP of sales and marketing. “We continue our effort to expand the Internet of Home ecosystem and improve the way these devices communicate and operate.”
Both the IQ Temp and the IQ Siren sensors can be paired with the company’s self-contained IQ Panel. Each one is available now at Qolsys distributors across North America.
