Remember when we all thought the robot revolution was upon us? Well, it’s here, but instead of taking over the world, those shiny metal minions are (thankfully) here to keep your smart house clean.
Neato’s Botvac lineup of robotic vacuum cleaners includes several of those little robotic helpers. Bring one home and it can be the child you’ve never had—meaning that it will actually clean up in your absence. It does that via scheduling, so it can clean when you’re at work or running errands. Of course, you can also just push one button, kick back, and watch the BotVac tackle the spot cleaning or full-floor cleaning that you can’t seem to get to.
Besides those automated options, Neato has packed all sorts of interesting technology into these robot vacuum cleaners. Those perks include a proprietary laser distance system and “Neato Botvision,” which allows the device to scan and plan the most efficient vacuuming course. Once a plan is in place, the bot will start cleaning in a back and forth pattern. After a hard day of cleaning, the Botvac will happily return to its base to recharge—and then continue to the spot where it left off, if it didn’t get the chance to finish the job.
Housed in white cases with options for accent colors, the Botvac family boasts a brush that’s 50 percent larger than what you’d find on other robots. That means it can clean a lot more. However, it’s not going to forget the nooks and crannies. The D-shaped robot has three straight sides that can easily get into corners and hug the walls to get any goo within 10mm of those surfaces. Other features include a side brush and a larger dirt bin. It also has the option to use boundary markers if you want to keep the Botvac away from toys, pets, cords, and just general clutter that you haven’t raked up yet.
Neato’s Botvac series has four different robotic vacuum cleaners. The Botvac 70e, Botvac 75, Botvac 80 and Botvac 85 all have different filter and brush options. Each one is selling now, priced between $479 and $599. Available on Amazon.
