Insteon Debuts Remote Controllable Outlet for Wireless Lighting

We’ve seen a lot of wireless plug-ins designed to easily add smart home control to your home’s existing outlets. Instead of having something bulky sticking out of your outlet, why not just replace the whole thing? That’s the idea behind the new Insteon On/Off Outlet.

Once installed, the On/Off Outlet allows you to control two lamps or appliances from one device. Each one can be independently- and remotely-controlled. It doesn’t need a module; everything is built right into the outlet. That not only makes the outlet cool, but also clean and free of clutter. It’s also nice and tamper-resistant, so little fingers won’t get into the mix.

Other features include dual-band technology, up to a 15A maximum controllable load for high-current devices, and LoadSense technology. Add the Insteon Hub into the setup and you can control the On/Off Outlet from your smartphone or tablet. It also adds in options for scheduling, alerts, scenes, and more. Besides those portables, the On/Off Outlet can also be controlled from any Insteon device or right on the outlet.

Insteon’s On/Off Outlet is available now for $59.99 in white and $64.99 in almond, light almond, ivory, black, brown and grey.
