HomeSeer just made Z-Wave network set-up a heck of a lot easier. The Z-Tool Advanced Z-Wave Installation Software allows homeowners to set-up a Z-wave automation network using a laptop and the Z-Wave USB interface. The software eliminates the need for a Z-Wave “primary controller” to add or remove Z-wave devices to the network. With the software, the laptop becomes that primary controller, permitting on/off testing of newly added devices and a back-up/restore feature for the Z-Wave network.
There’s a free trial download available on HomeSeer’s website, and the full version costs only $30. I’m pretty close to downloading the trial and giving it a go with my Intermatic lighting control and modules. If I do, I’ll check back in here and give a little summary of my experience.
