HomeSeer Techologies have released their HSTouch IP-enabled touchscreen software. The program is meant to integrate with any HomeSeer-based automation system within the home, and will run on in-wall, portable, and stand-alone touchscreen control devices. The software is IP-enabled, allowing users to monitor and control remote locations that incorporate the HomeSeer technology, e.g. a second residence or summer home. Additionally, HSTouch will run on Windows and Windows CE platforms, for maximum compatibility.
Touchscreen technology is nothing new, but it’s still new enough that Word 2007 doesn’t recognize it as a properly spelled word. HomeSeer’s Sales Director Mark Colegrove cited the increased popularity of the touchscreen “control portal” as one of the reasons for adding HSTouch; one has only to consider the growing ranks of iPod and iPhone (yet another word not recognized by Word 2007) users to understand just how omnipresent the concept has become in daily life. Adding the HSTouch software to their package is a sensible decision by HomeSeer Technologies, particularly considering that, according to their press release on the subject, their customers have been asking for it for sometime. Way to listen to your clientele, folks.
HomeSeer’s control software is Z-Wave compatible, and will integrate the numerous Z-Wave compliant products available on the market. Go to their website to check out their control software and browse the list of products they offer.
