When it comes to displays, bigger is usually better — that can go for touchpanels, too. After all, bigger screens can mean bigger, easier-to-read and easier-to-navigate menus onscreen.
To that end, Elan Home Systems has begun shipping its new VIA!Valet10.0-EM touchpanel to its dealers. The name incorporates the screen size of the display, which at 10.2 diagonal inches gives 60 percent more viewing area than the original VIA!Valet model, Elan says.
The controller has all the sleek appeal of a next-gen touchscreen, too, with the color LCD display capably letting you control your home’s audio, video and automation devices. If you have surveillance and security integrated in your home systems, the VIA!Valet10.0-EM also doubles as a 15:9 widescreen video monitor, so you’ll be able to keep a watchful eye even if you’re in a room that doesn’t have a display device.
If you don’t want to have this cool-looking device out in the open for whatever reason — your curious toddler might like to test drive it — the VIA!Valet10.0-EM can fold up to be completely flat and placed under-cabinet for concealment.
MSRP on the new touchpanel is $2,000, giving Elan interface solutions for every room of your home through its VIA! and Ole lines in a range from $380 to $2,000.
