In case you aren’t familiar with the soundbase category, it’s like a soundbar that can handle the weight of your TV. A lot of companies are starting to come out with options. However, ZVOX has been doing this for years — and now they are doing it with a trio of brand new products.
The new Platinum Series boasts theater-quality sound from under the TV, in three different sizes. The 30-inch SoundBase 570 is made for pairing with 60-inch TVs, the 36-inch SoundBase 670 goes with 70-inch TVs, and the 42-inch SoundBase 770 is perfect for 80-inchers.
All three speakers have a wood cabinet (MDF), a pedestal design, and the ability to connect to any TV with a single wire. Inside, each one has five full-range speakers and three built-in powered subwoofers, along with ZVOX’s own PhaseCue virtual surround sound and AccuVoice vocal enhancement technologies.
Also worth mentioning is the BlueGiga Bluetooth chipset, which supports the aptX software codec and promises CD-quality sound and a reliable Bluetooth connection. This means you can wirelessly stream music to the speaker from any smartphone, tablet or other compatible device, up to 40 feet away.
Other perks include the Output Leveling (OL) feature for leveling out the sound on commercials, a learning feature for use with your current remote, and a 3.5-inch low-profile design. All three models also have two analog audio inputs, two optical (Toslink) digital inputs, one coaxial digital input, and a front-panel 3.5mm analog stereo input.
“As TVs get larger, their stands are becoming wider, yet the majority of pedestal-style sound systems are designed for 40-inch TVs,” said Tom Hannaher, CEO of ZVOX Audio. “We designed the Platinum Series for people who want a full-blown home theater experience in a sleek form-factor without the wires and clutter of added speakers, yet might have 60-inch, 70-inch or even 80-inch wide TVs.”
ZVOX will start selling the SoundBase 570, the SoundBase 670 and the SoundBase 770 during the first week of October. The company has priced the new models at $399.99, $499.99 and $699.99, respectively.
