Buying a home theater in a box doesn’t mean that you need to sacrifice all of the super-cool features you’d get with mixing and matching a high-end system. Yamaha is making it easy to have all of the AV goodies you’d want, as well as 5.1 surround sound.
The company just started shipping the YHT-4910UBL 5.1-channel AV home theater system. The setup includes a receiver, five speakers and a subwoofer.
That receiver is Yamaha’s RX-V377, which boasts a discrete configuration that can crank 70 watts per channel ( (8 ohms, 0.09% THD, 2-ch driven). Designed for the modern home theater, this model has four HDMI inputs and one output, with 4K Ultra HD and 3D pass-through. It even has a front-panel USB port for hooking up your iPhone and iPad. Also worth noting is that this model has YPAO sound optimization to make the setup process a breeze.
Other features include Extra Bass for pumping big bass from small speakers, as well as Yamaha’s own Virtual Cinema Front feature. The latter allows listeners to enjoy virtual surround sound, even when all five speakers are placed at the front of the room. Of course, the setup also has Yamaha’s Cinema DSP, 17 DSP programs, the Compressed Music Enhancer feature, and support for the Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD Master Audio formats.
The speaker system also goes by the model name of NS-PZ40BL. Each of the five of the speakers has two 0.75-inch drivers, with the subwoofer promising 100 watts from a 6.5-inch driver.
Yamaha is selling the YHT-4910UBL now, with an MSRP of $479.95. If you have a few bucks left over, you can add in Bluetooth via the optional YBA-11 adapter for $69.95.
