When I was in school, I packed these ginormous crappy speakers into a teeny dorm room. They were almost as big as my bed. However, Wharfedale doesn’t need to hog up the space that should be devoted to your studies — or things like clothes. Instead, they are recommending the Wharfedale Diamond 10 Series for students heading off to school this fall.
Both the Diamond Series 10.1 and Diamond 10.2 are compact loudspeakers that offer a nice way to unwind. Perfect for digital playlists and vinyl, each one packs in a woven Kevlar cone woofer and a neodymium-magnet soft-dome tweeter. Both also have curvy cabinets that are also sturdy, thanks to four layers of materials.
Measuring 11.7-by-7.7-by-11 inches, the Diamond 10.1 has a 5-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter. The Diamond 10.2 is slightly larger, with a 6.5-inch woofer, a 1-inch tweeter, and a cabinet that measures 14.3-by-8.8-by-11.85 inches. The 10.2 also boasts better bass and greater overall output.
If you’re not heading off the school, the Diamond 10 Series has plenty of other options to accommodate just about any room. The lineup currently includes floorstanding towers, center-channel speakers, surrounds, subwoofers, and more.
Wharfedale is selling the Diamond Series 10.1 and Diamond 10.2 now in black, cherry and rosewood finishes. The company has priced these models at $349 and $449 per pair, respectively.
