Well, you can’t say that VIZIO isn’t trying to sell you a new HDTV this year. The company just announced plans to release 21 smart TV LED models for its 2014 E-Series.
The flat panel E-Series is a new collection of LED HDTVs ranging from 23 to 70 inches. A few of the highlights include advanced local dimming technology and full-array LED backlighting on most of the new models, with up to 18 Active LED Zones. That basically translates into better light uniformity across the screen, better black levels, and a more vibrant image overall.
Other features on some of the models include Clear Action 180 technology, built-in Wi-Fi, and the latest version of the web-enabled VIZIO Internet Apps Plus platform. The latter allows users to tap into web-enabled services, such as Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, iHeartRadio, HuluPlus, VUDU and YouTube, right from the TV. VIZIO also plans to add Spotify, Plex and AirCastLive access in the coming months.
A newly announced VIZIO Internet Apps Plus perk will incorporate a smartphone or tablet into the TV experience. Users can surf for content on a portable and send interesting items to the TV, without having to be tethered. (You do need to be on the same Wi-Fi network, however.) At launch, the second-screen feature will support YouTube and Netflix, as well as iOS and Android devices.
A complete list of the new models, with all of the features and prices, is listed below. VIZIO is selling the 2014 E-Series now at a variety of retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and more.
