Since the introduction of Ultra HD 4K TV, the most eye-popping thing about the video technology has been the image — along with some of those price tags. However, in true VIZIO fashion, the company has announced a more affordable option under its new P-Series Ultra HD Full-Array LED Smart TV collection.
The company just introduced the P-Series with sizes ranging from 50 to 70 inches. That 50-incher is the inexpensive model, priced at just $999.99.
The entire line promises four times the resolution of a 1080p HDTV, as well as full-array LED backlighting and 72 active LED zones. That backlighting delivers light uniformity, all while the zones adjust the image based on the on-screen content. Other features include 4K upscaling via the Spatial Scaling Engine, the V6 six-core processor, Clear Action Rate 960 for quick-moving content, Advanced Color Management and Active Pixel Tuning technology.
Also, since these are all smart TVs, VIZIO has given each one the VIZIO Internet Apps Plus platform. This includes support for the HEVC H.265 codec, HDCP 2.2 and 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, as well as services like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, UltraFlix3, Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, and more. It also has a second-screen feature for use with Android and iOS devices.
“Our P-Series collection offers an outstanding Ultra HD picture and performance,” said Matt McRae, VIZIO’s chief technology officer. “The shift towards 4K has left consumers demanding new solutions that deliver the right innovations to enhance their viewing experience. The P-Series Ultra HD line-up is benefited by VIZIO’s #1 position in the Smart TV marketplace, equipped with HEVC H.265 codec and 802.11 ac dual-band Wi-Fi for faster streaming and the latest HDCP 2.2 support for playback of protected Ultra HD content. This combination of technologies leaves consumers with the solutions that matter most in an Ultra HD set.”
VIZIO is currently taking pre-orders for the entire P-Series Ultra HD Full-Array LED Smart TV collection, with plans to ship all five sizes very soon. The lineup includes the 50-inch P502ui-B1 ($999.99), the 55-inch P552ui-B2 ($1,399.99), the 60-inch P602ui-B3 ($1,699.99), the 65-inch P652ui-B2 ($2,199.99), and the 70-inch P702ui-B3 ($2,499.99).
