It seems like we are seeing more one-box speaker solutions these days. Not everyone wants, needs, or has the space for a giant speaker setup. That said, I think we can all agree that the sound coming out of the TV sort of, well… stinks.
SpeakerCraft is the latest to introduce something to improve your everyday TV experience. The company just debuted its new SpeakerCraft Protegé TV Speaker. Designed to be placed under the TV, this option makes any TV sound as good as it looks — and sometimes even better.
The company has packed in loudspeakers, subwoofers and DSP technology into one slick cabinet that’s easy to rock out within a matter of minutes. Two 5.25-inch woofers are housed inside a tuned enclosure, along with four 2.5-inch midranges, and two 1-inch soft dome tweeters. Other features include a 60-watt power supply and an on-board limiter.
The SpeakerCraft Protegé also has Bluetooth support, so users can connect a smartphone for streaming web-based music or a stored collection.
“Every TV out there has one unfortunate characteristic. A weakness that has been there for so long, most consumers have just come to accept it as ‘the way it is’. And that weakness is the sound,” said SpeakerCraft’s Keith Marshall. “Our TV Speaker presents a uniquely SpeakerCraft solution for the people who don’t want to incur the expense of a room full of speakers and AVR receiver but still want Hi-Resolution sound to go with their Digital Flat-Panel TV.”
SpeakerCraft has yet to announce pricing for the Protegé. However, consumers can expect that info to come before the product starts shipping this fall.
