We know how well Paradigm can rock the house. Now they want to add some boom to the room, with a trio of new subwoofers.
As part of the Monitor lineup, the Monitor SUB 8, Monitor SUB 10 and Monitor SUB 12 all feature a small, streamlined appearance. Of course, they also pack in a few of Paradigm’s audio tricks.
TThe 8-inch SUB 8 and 10-inch SUB 10 have a mineral-filled polypropylene cone with a corrugated Santoprene surround, a 1.5-inch 4-layer copper-clad aluminum voice coil, Nomex spider, 4.5-pound ferrite magnet and an AVS die-cast heat sink chassis. The 12-inch SUB 12 boosts things up a bit with a a 2-inch 4-layer copper-clad aluminum voice coil, 6.5-pound ferrite magnet, along with dual Nomex spiders and AVS die-cast heat sink chassis.
Featuring internal Ultra-Class D amplifers that are rated for 300 watts RMS (or 900 watts peak), each of the new subwoofers boasts a low frequency extension of 19Hz for SUB 8, 17Hz for the SUB 10, and 16Hz for the SUB 12 (DIN).
The new Monitor subs are wireless-ready, but you’ll need to add in Paradigm’s PT-2 transmitter ($149). If you’re looking for another possible add-on, Paradigm also offers Perfect Bass Kit equalization for $99, which can be added to any one of these subs through an integrated USB port.
“While Paradigm is dedicated to using the best available materials when constructing subwoofers and speakers, we are equally committed to researching innovative design techniques that can drive the premium materials to their absolute potential in a smaller, more efficient, more affordable package,” said Paul Wojciechowski, Paradigm’s manager of product development. “The ambition behind the Monitor Series 7 subs was to further improve bass response, even in the 8-inch model that is ideal for the smallest listening spaces.”
Available in black ash, the Monitor SUB 8 has an MSRP of $699, with the Monitor SUB 10 costing $849, and the Monitor Sub 12 priced at $999.
