Netgear just announced an addition to its NeoTV lineup. The set-top box is now streaming Best Buy’s CinemaNow service.
Some of you may be asking exactly what the heck NeoTV is. The Netgear-branded streaming player also goes by the name of NTV200. Similar to a Roku box, the NeoTV delivers a variety of streaming content, in up to full 1080p HD. It also boasts built-in Wi-Fi and surround sound support.
Besides CinemaNow, the NeoTV box offers instant streaming of several popular services, including Netflix, VUDU, YouTube, Pandora, Discovery Channel, G4, tagesschau, and much more. Software updates are free. However, subscriptions and/or fees may apply, depending on the service.
“Instead of driving to a kiosk or waiting for movies to arrive by mail, NeoTV provides consumers with access to one of the world’s largest collections of premium movies, TV shows, music and web videos-thousands of titles instantly streamed to your TV,” said Damir Skripic, Netgear’s product line manager for connected entertainment. “Channels such as Best Buy CinemaNow offer an ideal, on-demand streaming experience. All you need is an Internet connection.”
Other NeoTV box features include the option to connect through the built-in Ethernet cable, as well as an optical audio out (S/PDIF). There’s also a free NeoTV app, for remote control functionality from an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Android smartphone.
Netgear’s NeoTV Streaming Player is available now at major retailers, such as Best Buy, RadioShack, Newegg, Amazon, and more. It has an MSRP of $79.99.
