Streaming media is becoming a big part of a lot of home theater systems. After all, there are so many different ways to stream content these days, making it pretty easy to turn previously limited entertainment options into endless ones.
Kaleidescape is the latest company to pump up its digital offering, thanks to the magic of Disney. The company just announced a content licensing agreement with The Walt Disney Studios, which will put several of Disney’s library titles and new releases (as they become available) into the Kaleidescape Movie Store.
The new deal will bring in favorites from Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and Touchstone Pictures. Currently, the lineup includes all three Toy Story films, Frozen, the Iron Man trilogy, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Pretty Woman, and countless others—including five of the original Star Wars films, which were recently released in the digital format. All of those titles (and more) are currently available to home theater systems with the Kaleidescape Alto (pictured below) in North America.
Currently, the Kaleidescape Movie Store has over 10,000 different titles available for purchase. Most of those are available in full 1080p HD, with Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio.
“This is an important milestone for our brand and a great benefit to our dealers and customers,” said Cheena Srinivasan, Kaleidescape’s founder and CEO. “We are thrilled that some of the finest Disney titles are now available for sale to Kaleidescape Alto owners, to enjoy in their home theater or media room in a truly cinematic form.”
The Kaleidescape Alto can add access to 100 Blu-ray-quality or 600 DVD-quality movies into home theater systems, all via the Kaleidescape Movie Store. You can also combine more than one Kaleidescape Alto media server, for up to four viewing zones and storage for up to 400 movies in Blu-ray quality (or 2,400 in DVD quality). The Alto is available now, priced at $2,495.
