Some people are going to scream when they see this—a 1080p 3LCD projector from Epson with 15,000:1 contrast ratio. The Powerlite Home Cinema 2030 is the “yeah, I can do this” home theater projector.
While not quite as bright at the 3,000 lumen Epson 730HD, at 2,000 color and white lumens, it’s bright enough to fill up a large screen in the typical dark media room or movie cave. It’s also considerably smaller than Epson’s current 3020, so it should be easier to maneuver. But bright and cute isn’t all this thing has got going for it. In addition to the usual assortment of video inputs, there’s an MHL-compliant HDMI port, which means you can connect a Roku stick and use the projector’s built-in speaker for instant slumber party movie nights.
Like some of Epson’s higher-end projectors, this one includes full RGB gain and offset adjustment, six color modes and RGBCMY hue/saturation/brightness controls.
The lens has a 1.2X zoom, but no lens shift. A slider control is added for horizontal keystone correction.
The projector is compatible with Epson’s RF active 3D glasses (rechargeable) but none are included in the box.
You can get it in September for $999.
