We’re always trying to figure out new: spots to put: home security cameras: in the Electronic House.: After all, you don’t want to just leave all of them out in the open, right? VuPoint Solutions has come up with a unique, interesting location for its new Toucan—and it’s outdoors.
Toucan home security cameras: are weatherproof, so they can capture any action outside, whether it’s a potential intruder or a package delivery. However, it’s not the tough exterior that makes this product a standout. It’s that these compact cameras are made to be covert. In fact, each one is designed to: fit: into any existing outdoor light fixture. That’s right; this setup can: easily attach a 720p HD camera with two-way audio to the light you currently have outside.
Because the Toucan: has support for both WiFi and Bluetooth wireless technologies, there’s no need to worry about getting new cables out to the fixture. Once you have Toucan home security cameras connected, you can tap into live video with the Kuna mobile app for iOS and Android devices. You may recognize this app, since it’s used on: other outdoor lighting solutions, including one made by Kuna.
Each Toucan features a 116-degree field of view and the ability to capture and store footage for up to two hours. (Beyond that, there are paid subscription options.) Other features include a 100dB alert siren to scare off intruders, a motion sensor, a PIR sensor, alerts, and more. It even has a smart socket for light fixtures, which will allow users to turn the lights on and off manually, as well as with dawn-to-dusk controls and scheduling options.
Toucan home security cameras will start selling sometime in mid-2016, priced at $199 each. The company plans to launch the product through Amazon and brick-and-mortar, with TV and catalog retail partners coming at a later date.
