There are a variety of smart doorbell options for homeowners. However, just because you’re a renter doesn’t mean you’re destined to manually answer the door. Instead, say “hello” to Ringo.
Ringo is a new service that allows you to control the intercom or buzzer in your apartment by adding access codes that work in conjunction with your smartphone. That way, you can access the door from anywhere in the world, just like a smart doorbell.
Just sign up for a Ringo account and they will give you a Ringo Number. That’s basically a phone number that you’ll give to your building manager. When someone goes to use the intercom, they will be asked for an access code. If they don’t have one, Ringo will call the number connected to your account. Once connected, you’ll also be able to access the intercom from anywhere in the world, in case you need to let in a friend, a pet walker, or anyone else.
Ringo offers call forwarding for up to five additional phones and doesn’t need any type of hardware. If the system is able to call a mobile phone or landline, Ringo will work for you.
Ringo is free to try for your first 30 days. After that, it’s $5.99 per month for the full Ringo service or $3.99 for Ringo Lite. The full service includes unlimited access codes, code personalization, a Secure Mode, and priority email support.
