There are plenty of DIY home security systems out there. However, most of those options just consist of a security camera and an app for your smartphone or tablet. It’s a nice little starter solution for sure. However, we are seeing plenty of packages coming out that offer a little more beyond a quick peek at your property. Oplink is giving us one of those options, known as Connected Alarm.
Oplink Connected Alarm has everything you’d find in one of these one-box DIY home security systems. More specifically, the package includes one Oplink Processing Unit (OPU), one IPC1200 IP camera, one USB, and two door/window sensors. Of course, there’s also self-monitoring, via the free apps for Android, iOS and Windows smartphones.
The entire setup is plug-and-play, so you can install a home security system within minutes. Once connected, the camera will capture real-time action, all while the sensors monitor multiple locations in the house. If someone opens one of those windows and/or doors, the sensors will trigger an alert so you know what’s going on.
Oplink DIY home security systems include free monitoring for one user. That means that one person will have access to unlimited live video streaming, push notifications, email, and the option to arm/disarm the system remotely. Of course, Oplink also offers a Premier Service for $19.99 per month. That monthly fee adds in video alerts and group video/monitoring through the secure Oplink Connected Cloud. Other features on the Premier Service include up to five users and five emergency contacts, a videogram event history, SMS alerts to emergency contacts, voice call options and up to eight cameras and/or 24 sensors. (If you need more cameras and/or sensors, the company offers the option for an additional monthly fee.)
