It’s hard to keep an eye on your stuff when an Xbox is around. Now, one company is planning to combine security with the popular game console. Smartvue Corporation has just debuted the Homevue.
Homevue is a plug-and-play wireless camera that works in conjunction with the Xbox and a cloud service.
Because the Homevue is wireless, it can be placed anywhere in the home. It doesn’t actually have to be near the Xbox. From there, it sends real-time video to the cloud, where it can be viewed from your Xbox or remotely through any smartphone, tablet or computer — even during those rare occasions when your Xbox is turned off.

The Homevue allows gamers to play, all while keeping an eye on the baby or even checking to see who is at the front door. If you’re too engaged, the Homevue will send text and email alerts when motion is detected.
Homevue doesn’t have any monthly fees. However, there is an option to record up to one month of video in the cloud.
“Our mission is to make the world a safer place with amazing surveillance technologies that help people stay connected to what they love,” said Martin Renkis, founder and CEO of Smartvue Corporation. “Xbox is a very robust platform that offers a perfect gateway into the intelligent home for our cloud camera solutions.”
Smartvue will be available online and from select retailers starting in January. If you’re looking to secure your Homevue, the company is currently taking pre-orders at the discounted price of $99 per camera on Kickstarter.
