Having a great lock is probably your first and easiest security measure. However, there are plenty of ways to add on to that solution, without having to break the bank. Schlage, a popular maker of many different types of locks, has just added an option that can put DIY home automation features into any space.
Besides being able to complete the DIY home automation installation easier via on-screen pairing and a user walk through, the new experience puts a host of other options into your favorite portable. For instance, you can create a customizable user code length, enable a vacation mode, add notification reminders to delete user codes at specific dates or times, and more.
Schlage Connect users can also customize alarm settings through the Wink DIY home automation app, while Schlage Keypad locks will get the ability to lock and unlock doors remotely. The Schlage Connect already delivers remote control, when paired with any Z-Wave-compatible home automation system (such as the Wink).
If you aren’t familiar with Wink, know that this DIY home automation solution can connect hundreds of different products from different brands. Once everything is connected to the app, users can control home products individually or as a group.
“We’re very excited about these new Schlage features as they demonstrate how connected home technology can redefine how people interact with and experience the devices they use every day,” said Brett Worthington, VP and general manager at Wink. “That’s the beauty of Wink—we’re able to continue providing new and improved functionalities alongside our trusted partners—like Schlage—so that your connected products evolve with you over time.”
Both the Schlage Connect lock and the Schlage Keypad are available now. Depending on the retailer and the finish, each one can be had for around $200 and $100, respectively.
