We’ve seen a lot of smart bulbs hit the market. So what makes the LÃ:¼men Smart Bulb so different? It’s that this space-age looking smart bulb can brighten up your life with a bit of Bluetooth and a whole lot of color.
Similar to the Philips hue, the LÃ:¼men Smart Bulb can deliver white light, as well as 16 million colors; whatever seems to match your mood. However, it has a funky, octagonal anodized aluminum shell and boasts the type of longevity and energy savings found in most LED light bulbs.
Now, because the LÃ:¼men uses Bluetooth 4.0, it can’t be accessed from outside of the house. You need to be within 30 feet of the fixture. However, it can do some pretty cool things that may make it difficult to leave.
That Bluetooth makes it easy to pair the LÃ:¼men with your favorite portable, but an iOS and Android app is where things get interesting—and pretty personalized, too. That’s because the app allows you to turn the bulb on and off, dim and even tap into several preset lighting modes.
The Party Mode can deliver flashing lights that change color to match whatever music is coming out of your smartphone or tablet. If the idea of strobe effects is giving you a headache, click on the Relaxation Mode, which can mimic moonlight by transitioning between a calming blue and a peaceful purple. Other modes include Romantic, Wake-Up, Music Sync, and Call Alert, with more expected in the near future.
Designed to replace any standard bulb, the LÃ:¼men is easy to install, with no rewiring required. Other features include a 7-watt LED element (40W equivalent), an option for grouping, and more. It’s also rated for 30,000 hours or 10 years of use.
The TabÃ:¼ LÃ:¼men Smart Bulb is selling now, priced at $59.99 each.

These bulbs are not different from Philips HUE at all (they’re not even cheaper although they run on Bluetooth which means you don’t need a hub). From my point of view having a funky, octagonal anodized aluminum shell is no differentiator at all. You don’t even see it anymore once you screwed them in the socket.
I ordered mimoodz bulbs recently. They look really promising. They are as Philips HUE, Tabü Lümen, and so on, but you get them at $25 only! This is a great invention. Just check them out here (currently you even get them at pre-order prices – even cheaper): http://www.mimoodz.com
