A few months back, we told you that Osram Sylvania and Technical Consumer Products (TCP) would start making WeMo-friendly bulbs in the near future. Well, the future is today (or close to it).
WeMo has been showing off smart light bulbs from both manufacturers. That lineup includes standard indoor bulbs, color-changing bulbs, decorative lighting and outdoor spotlights. Both companies will be shipping a total of seven new smart light bulbs throughout the year.
Each of the new bulbs was made for pairing with the WeMo Link and WeMo app, so users can control them from anywhere in the world with a favorite portable. Of course, the app can also tap into dimming, a sleep fader, scheduling, and the option to control bulbs individually or in groups.
The Osram Lightify Gardenspot Mini RGB (73699) offers color control options for the outdoors. Perfect for gardens, decks or walkways, this bulb has an MSRP of $79.99. The Osram Lightify Tunable White 60 Bulb (73674) can replace your standard light bulb with a fully dimmable bulb. It can even adjust between 2,700 to 6,500 Kelvin for warm to cool shades of white. That one will sell for $29.99. The last of the Osram Lightify lineup is the Flex RGBW (73661, pictured above), which isn’t really a bulb. Instead, it’s a strip designed for decorative purposes. It’s pretty versatile for a light strip though, offering color control, dimming and tuning from 2,000 to 6,500 Kelvin. Look for that to be listed with an MSRP of $64.99.
TCP will also offer four WeMo-friendly bulbs. The TCP Plus A19 Daylight LED Light Bulb (CBWA1911DL) is a fully dimmable, 60-watt smart light bulb that delivers 5,000 Kelvin for bright, white light for $19.97. For $5 more, the TCP Plus BR30 Daylight LED Light Bulb (CBWR3010DL) can deliver dimming and 5,000 Kelvin to recessed and track lighting. Priced at $34.97 each, the TCP Plus PAR38 Soft White LED Light Bulb (CBWP3817) is a 90-watt halogen equivalent bulb for outdoor and security use. That offers 1,050-lumen brightness for wide area lighting. The last in the new lineup is the TCP Plus Soft White Retrofit LED (CBWDR611), which can fit over 5- and 6-inch recessed lights to add smart lighting features to older fixtures. The 65-watt equivalent white light has an MSRP of $29.97.
“With the introduction of new WeMo-enabled bulbs from trusted lighting partners, we’ve created one of the most robust whole-home lighting systems on the market and given consumers an abundance of choice in terms of form factor, style and color options,” said Ohad Zeira, director of product management for WeMo. “By expanding WeMo-enabled lighting to additional brands, WeMo now gives people the ability to automate entire rooms and scenes through one simple, intuitive app, which is an attractive option for those that may be waiting to jump into the world of smart lighting.”
Osram Lightify bulbs are currently available for pre-order on Amazon, with other retailers coming soon. The TCP Plus bulbs will follow at a later date.
