We’re seeing a ton of smart LED light bulbs out there. Some use WiFi, some work with Bluetooth, and some light up through the power of Z-Wave. How does a company compete? By making those smart bulbs a little better.
That’s the idea behind: Smartbulb LED light bulbs. These: are: ilumi’s second-generation Smartbulbs, which will soon be: available in two flavors. A19 Flood Smartbulb LED light bulbs boast more than 800 lumens with 10 watts of power. Designed to fit everyday lamps, pendants, fans or general lighting fixtures, the A19 has a natural dome structure. The BR30 Flood Smartbulb is geared towards overhead, recessed and track lighting, with the promise of 1,100 lumens at 15 watts.
Backed by mega-mogul and Shark Tank star Mark Cuban, these latest Smartbulbs promise to be more user-friendly, with better Bluetooth Smart mesh wireless connectivity. According to ilumi, users can connect up to 50 Smartbulbs on one app, at a range of more than 150 feet.
Both models also include HyperLux LED, ilumi’s patented technology, which is: designed to deliver high brightness in variations of white and vibrant saturated colors.
There’s also a: new Smartbulb app to guide iOS and Android users through the easy setup process. The app also has new features, such as Suggestive Lighting for specific rooms, Wellness Lighting to replicate the sun’s daily color cycle, integrated proximity control, a nightlight feature, music sync options, and a Rise & Shine mode. There are even options to make these bulbs part of your security setup, thanks to a Vacation mode and routine lighting that can mimic your schedules and preferences.
All Smartbulbs also feature support for IFTTT (“If This Then That”), so you can integrate them with a variety of smart home products, such as the Nest thermostat.
“We wanted to provide more than just a Smartbulb that has a million color options,” said ilumi’s CEO and co-founder Corey Egan. “With ilumi, consumers unlock the power of lighting in ways they have never thought of. Our enhanced features provide a transformational experience, allowing users to be a Michaelangelo of their own home.”
Currently, ilumi is taking pre-orders for Smartbulb LED light bulbs on Kickstarter. At last peek, the company had more than tripled its $50,000 goal. To get in on the action, you will need to pledge at least $29 for the A19 Smartbulb, with the BR30 going for $35. Once the bulbs start shipping in September, those prices are expected to go up to $59.99 and $69.99, respectively. The campaign will run through Friday, August 7, 2015.
