It’s much easier to mix and match smart home products these days. That means you are no longer tied to just one brand. Even smart LED light bulbs are starting to play nice now. In fact, WeMo just announced a new partnership that will integrate Cree LED lighting solutions into the WeMo ecosystem.
What that basically means is that you are free to choose the LED light bulbs you like best and still have them work within a WeMo setup. Just know that Cree’s WeMo-compatible bulb will be known as the Connected Cree LED Bulb—and the actual WeMo compatibility won’t be coming until the summer.
Connected Cree LED Light Bulbs are 60-watt fully dimmable bulbs that can deliver 815 lumens and a soft white, 2700K color temperature. It also boasts a rated lifetime of 25,000 hours.
The Connected Cree LED Bulb will integrate with WeMo products via the WeMo Link, the system’s ZigBee-to-WiFi bridge that’s used to put WeMo-enabled LED light bulbs on the network and in the WeMo app. That app control and WiFI connectivity means that you can control Connected Cree LED Bulbs (and any other WeMo products in your setup) from anywhere in the world.
It also means that the Connected Cree LED Bulb can be integrated to work with other WeMo products. For instance, you can set the system so that when the NetCam HD+ camera detects motion, it can trigger the lighting to turn on. Of course, you can also set the Connected Cree LED Bulb to go on and off based on times of day. Other features include individual or group bulb control, brightness control, and a sleep fader.
“Our Connected Cree LED Bulb is designed to deliver the best lighting experience along with multi-platform connectivity and a simple user experience,” said Betty Noonan, Cree’s chief marketing officer. “Adding WeMo compatibility represents our commitment to making the Connected Cree LED bulb the most compatible bulb on the market to provide even more options for customers without compromise, all at an affordable price.”
Connected Cree LED Light Bulbs are available now, priced at $14.97 each. The company may also introduce other WeMo-compatible products in the future, although nothing has been announced yet.
