Back in January, Belkin announced plans to add to its WeMo home automation line. The latest product is the WeMo Light Switch, a Wi-Fi connected light switch that users can access from anywhere in the house or the world. Now, Belkin says that the switch is shipping.
The WeMo Light Switch can work alone or with an entire bank of household lights. It uses a home’s existing electrical wiring, just like any other light switch.
Once in place, WeMo taps into your home’s Wi-Fi network and is accessed via the free WeMo app.
Once connected, the WeMo app can be used to turn lights on and off, put them on a schedule, and even time them with the local sunrise and sunset. It also features IFTTT integration, which can deliver web-based alerts, including email, weather, and social media.
The WeMo Light Switch is compatible with devices using iOS v5 or higher and Android 4.0 and higher. No service or monthly fees are required. The WeMo Light Switch is selling now for $49.99 each.
