This time of year, automated outdoor lighting can be truly boo-tiful.
It’s Halloween, which means it’s time for kids to get hopped up on sugar and parents to bust out the automated lighting. While the number of Christmas scenes can often be viewed from space, more and more Halloween-themed outdoor lighting displays: have been: popping up quicker than zombies during an apocalypse.
It definitely makes sense. Considering how much people put into their costumes, you can imagine the time and money someone would put: into a: high-tech haunted house that’s on public display.
As usual, you don’t have to travel to check out some of these spooky setups. Most are spreading love and heebie-jeebies all around the web.
Hear something go bump in the night? That could just be one of your neighbors setting up a super-cool automated display. If not, scroll down to check out three: of the most spooktacular Halloween outdoor lighting displays for 2015—if you dare!
Ghostbusters
Who ya gonna call? If you’re looking for really entertaining outdoor lighting in the area of Riverside, CA, consider YouTuber KJ92508. Better known as Creative Lighting Displays, this home scares up tricks and treats year after year. For 2015, they have an awesome display that’s set to the timely (with the reboot coming and all) theme of “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker, Jr. The display includes four singing pumpkin faces, hand-carved pumpkins, tombstones, thousands of lights, and over 8,000 Light-O-Rama channels. Also, check out the inclusion of the Ghostbusters logo on each side of the house.
Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)
We never thought we’d see a house Whip or Nae Nae, but here we are. Located in Odenton, MD, this display was put together by the Hagan family, better known as Lights on Ice Crystal. This year’s setup features “thousands of lights and channels of computer animation,” which are all synchronized to SilentÃ:³’s mega-hit, “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae).” For more information on the annual display, become one of the family’s 2,000-plus followers on Facebook.
Downtown
Brandon Bullis, an electrical engineer out of Leedsburgh, VA, considers his holiday: display: to be a hobby. With over 8,500 lights, over 2,500 channels of computer animation, and close to half a million views (and counting), it’s a little more than that. In fact, Bullis, who has named his annual display Edwards Landing Lights, recently told The Washington Post that his family has put out a donation box for the past two years, which has collected about $10,000 for the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. This year’s display is set to: “Downtown” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, and: even has Macklemore’s stamp of approval. And if you’re wondering how no one could be dancing in the streets during this video, it’s because the display is completely silent; viewers need to tap into a local FM station to “hear the lights” in person.
