If you’re garden isn’t a big patch of brownness, you probably take pretty decent care of it. Of course, not everyone has the time or the know-how to make a beautiful lawn. Now there are several garden-based home control systems that can make the process of gardening both high-tech and very green.
Blue Marble is the latest company looking to squeeze into the smart home by introducing a set of home control systems for the outdoors. The new lineup will allow users to set up, control and monitor garden irrigation from almost anywhere.
However, the hook on this product is that it’s completely battery-free. Instead, these home control systems are solar-powered.
The Blue Marble setup consists of a controller that’s the hub. This piece is connected to the web, so it can access real-time data and weather forecasts. There are also radio-controlled Drip Irrigation Valves, Lawn Values and Sensors. Everything is connected to the Blue Marble app, which allows you to control the system from iOS and Android devices from anywhere in the world.
According to Blue Marble, the controller will work with your existing irrigation system and it’s modular. That means you can add on whenever you see fit.
“Blue Marble enhances existing equipment by dropping right in place of older, timer-based systems, without any fuss, and delivers the perfect drink to every flower in your garden, every apple in your orchard, and every blade of grass on your lawn,” says Paul Sabadin, the founder and president of Blue Marble, Inc. “Even better yet, it does all this without batteries.”
Currently, Blue Marble is seeking funding through Kickstarter. To secure a Blue Marble controller, you’ll need to pledge a minimum of $179 before the campaign ends on September 26, 2015. There are also other options and rewards for multiple controllers. Once the campaign ends, backers should expect to receive the first Blue Marble products by December.
