Russound DMS-3.1 Streams Digital Music to Multiple Rooms

You may not be willing to admit this, but most music can (and should) make you want to dance. That said, one room can be a little limiting. For those wanting to take the party around the entire house, Russound has the DMS-3.1 Digital Media Streamer.

As part of the company’s C-Series, this newly announced product streams networked-based digital music sources almost anywhere in the house. That means you can listen to music from your digital collection or the web. Up to three simultaneous stereo digital audio streams can crank around the house, with a fourth coming from the component’s built-in AM/FM stereo tuner.

Compatible file formats include MP3 (CBR, VBR), WAV (8, 16-bit), OGG Vorbis, FLAC [8, 16-bit], AAC and AAC+.

The DMS-3.1 includes rear panel stereo audio output jacks for each of the three streams, and another pair for the tuner. There’s also a Source ID Switch, so you (or your installer) can easily identify which stream is which. Other features include three USB ports, an AM/FM tuner with RDS feedback, and FM coax and loop antenna connections.

Connect the DMS-3.1 to your Ethernet connection, and to one of the Russound C-Series controllers. The streamer can also snag audio from any LAN-connected DLNA devices throughout the house.

Russound says that the DMS-3.1 will start shipping in May. Pricing will be announced closer to that release date.
