Over the years, we’ve seen a million different wireless speakers. Despite that wireless connectivity, not all of these options can deliver sound almost anywhere.
Some wireless speakers are big, some are bulky, and some aren’t that durable. Some are just pricey, so you may not want to take them outside of the house. However, Polk Boom just debuted a pair of wireless speakers that are perfect for portable use. Each one is more than willing to take your abuse, all while belting out quality sound.
The Swimmer Duo and Swimmer Jr. are two wireless speakers that are water-, dirt- and shock-proof. Each one can actually be submerged in up to 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes, which is perfect for poolside or beachfront playtime. They also feature Bluetooth technology, so you can wirelessly stream music to the speaker from any smartphone, tablet or computer.
Modeled after the original Swimmer, the Swimmer Duo has a silicone casing that can withstand hard drops and a flexible “tail” that can secure the speaker to any object, such as a paddle, bike handlebar, or tree branch. That same tail can be detached and swapped out with a suction cup so it can stick to flat surfaces like a window or shower wall.
Other features on the Swimmer Duo include a frequency response of 240Hz-16kHz, a 3.5mm input, and a built-in speakerphone. Polk has also provided the option to link two Swimmer Duo speakers together wirelessly to create a stereo pair.
“Pushing the limits of where you can take sound is the core of what drives us,” said Ryan Minarik, Polk Boom’s founder. “With the development of Swimmer Duo and Swimmer Jr., our primary goals were to pack as much punch into the smallest sized speakers while extending the flexibility of placement and amplifying the soundstage via stereo linking. We believe these updates continue to provide and expand a ‘Ready 4 Anything’ listening experience.”
Polk is selling the Swimmer Duo and Swimmer Jr. wireless speakers now, priced at $59.99 and $39.99, respectively. The Swimmer Duo is available in black, blue, orange and a limited two-toned green/orange finish. The Swimmer Jr. comes in black, blue and gray with a green bumper.
