We’ve seen a lot of Blu-ray players that can really multitask. Yamaha is looking to pack just about every bell and whistle into its latest, the Aventage BD-A1040.
This newly announced universal Blu-ray player has tons of connectivity, as well as Bluetooth. That means you can bypass the receiver and wirelessly stream audio directly to the Blu-ray player. This little perk is a first for Yamaha.
Designed as a complement to Yamaha’s Aventage receiver line, the BD-A1040 has an aluminum front panel, a 192 kHz/32-bit DAC, and gold-plated output terminals. It even has a 1080p/24Hz HDMI video output, x.v.Color and Deep Color compatibility, video noise reduction, and 1080p playback for DVDs, photos and home videos.
Because it’s a “universal” player, it also works with Blu-ray 3D, SACD and DVD-Audio formats. Other features include built-in Wi-Fi, Wireless Direct for Miracast-enabled smartphones and tablets, and support for Yamaha’s AV Controller app for iOS and Android devices. That Wi-Fi also helps when accessing VUDU, Dropbox, YouTube Leanback, Picasa Web Albums, and networked devices via DLNA.
“The same painstaking craftsmanship and attention to detail our engineers place on our Aventage AV receivers has been applied to the BD-A1040, giving consumers the purest audio and video quality for all TV watching and home theater experiences,” said Bob Goedken, general manager of Yamaha’s AV Division. “The superior performance, convenience and flexibility of this universal Blu-ray Disc player cannot be overstated.”
Yamaha will start shipping the BD-A1040 in August, with an MSRP of $449.95.
