There are Klipsch speakers in Dolby Atmos-enabled commercial cinemas all over the world. Now, the company wants you to be able to create some of that audio magic right in your living room.
The company just started shipping a trio of: Dolby Atmos-enabled Klipsch speakers. The new Reference Premiere lineup: was: specifically designed to bring Dolby Atmos to home theaters of all shapes and sizes.
What’s so great about having that? Dolby Atmos is a relatively new sound format that can: deliver sound from almost every angle—including above.
“Controlled directivity has been at the core of Klipsch acoustic design principals for nearly 70 years,” the company said in its announcement. “This makes Klipsch the ideal choice for Dolby Atmos enabled speakers.”
Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the Reference Premiere includes proprietary 90:°x90:° Tractrix Horn technology, which allows the speakers to meet the directivity and sensitivity specifications needed for Dolby Atmos. The Reference Premiere lineup features three models. The RP-280FA tower speaker (pictured at the top) is an all-in-one solution with: an integrated height channel, so it can reflect sound off the ceiling. This model has a 1-inch titanium Linear Travel Suspension (LTS) tweeter with a hybrid Tractrix Horn for the main channel, with a 1-inch titanium LTS tweeter with a hybrid Tractrix Horn for the height channel. It also has two 8-inch Cerametallic cone woofers for the main channel, with a single 6.5-inch Cerametallic cone woofer for the height channel.
The RP-140SA (pictured below) can be used as a surround speaker, as well as an add-on for existing home theater speakers. That basically means that you can add Dolby Atmos into any existing setup without having to toss your old speakers. This model has the 1-inch titanium LTS tweeter with a hybrid Tractrix Horn, along with a 4-inch Cerametallic cone woofer. And finally, the RP-450CA center channel has quad 5.25-inch Cerametallic cone woofers, a 1-inch titanium LTS tweeter with a hybrid Tractrix Horn, and a 58-25kHz (+/- 3dB) frequency response.
All three models are made to be paired with any Reference Premiere subwoofer from Klipsch speakers.
The RP-280FA and RP-450CA are available in a walnut or black handcrafted real wood veneer, while the RP-140SA comes in a brushed black polymer veneer finish. Each one has removable cloth-woven grilles that attach magnetically.
Klipsch is selling the RP-280F floorstanding speakers for $2,400 per pair, with the RP-140SA surrounds going for $500 per pair. The RP-450CA center channel is sold separately, with an MSRP of: $850.
