Back in 2012, Denon introduced an AirPlay speaker called the Cocoon. Since then, the company has been devoting most of its time to receivers. However, it looks like Denon is ready to get back out there — literally.
The new Denon Envaya DSB200 is built to travel. However, this time, the portable speaker isn’t taking AirPlay on the road. The company is packing in Bluetooth support, so that users can wirelessly stream content to the speaker from a slew of portable devices, including smartphones, tablets and computers.
Thanks to aptX support, the Envaya DSB200 promises a lossless audio transfer and a low latency of just 32ms. Inside, the speaker has two proprietary 57mm full range drivers, a 100mm passive radiator, and Denon’s own Digital Sound processing. Other features include a USB port, an AUX input, a built-in stand, and rubber footing. It even has an extra compartment for storing phones and other accessories during travel.
Promising up to 10 hours of playback when charged, the Envaya DSB200 comes in glossy white or matte black with options for four interchangeable grille cloth covers (Lunar, Sunset, Fandango and Indigo). Denon will start shipping the Envaya DSB200 sometime in May, with an MSRP of $199.
