Sennheiser is sprucing up its Momentum and Momentum On-Ear models. However, the big news is that the company added two pairs of wireless headphones, the Momentum Wireless and the Momentum On-Ear Wireless. All four pairs include Active Noise Cancellation and a new folding headband for a better fit, whether that’s on your head or into your backpack.
Each model also has Sennheiser’s proprietary transducers, which promise detailed sound with a slight bass emphasis. Other features include comfy ear pads (for on-ear models) and a three-button in-line remote with an integrated mic for making and taking calls.
Those wireless models also have Bluetooth with NFC technology, so you can pair the headphones with compatible devices at a light touch. The apt-X codec also ensures great sound, even when streaming wirelessly—and for up to 22 hours using the built-in batteries. Both versions also have the aforementioned Active Noise Cancellation technology, known as NoiseGard, which uses four microphones to monitor and block ambient noise.
“The Momentum headphones represent our uncompromised vision and passion to go further and push for something even better. They are for people that share this spirit, demand the best and refuse to compromise—delivering sound quality, progressive technology and high-quality materials in a product that is built to last,” said Charles Cha, product manager at Sennheiser Consumer Electronics. “Momentum never stands still, which is why we are launching the second generation of Momentum headphones, with greater comfort, convenience and innovative new wireless models.”
The Momentum and Momentum Wireless will be available in black and ivory versions, with the Momentum also getting a brown edition that’s designed with iOS products in mind. The Momentum On-Ear Wireless comes in black and ivory, with the Momentum On-Ear adding in brown and silver options.
The new Momentum headphone models come in two versions. One will be optimized for iOS devices, with a second taking on Android and Windows. The Momentum Wireless over-ear cost $499 and the Momentum Wireless On-Ear cost $399
