These days, audio fans are demanding that their portable music be as good as the audio speakers and home theater systems that they have at home. So why wouldn’t you want your on-the-go solutions to come from a quality manufacturer?
Aurender is pretty well known for its high-end products for the home. Now they want you to take some of that quality with you, wherever you may roam. To do that, the company just announced the Flow, a portable digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and headphone amplifier designed for high resolution audio fans and discriminating headphone users.
The Flow has a 32-bit/384kHz, DSD64/128 DAC to deliver all sorts of high resolution audio content. It even promises to keep background noise levels extra low, making it a nice match for reference-level custom In-Ear Monitors (IEM). Other features include USB 3.0 and SPDIF optical inputs, a 1/4-inch/6.35mm headphone jack, and about 7 hours of playtime while fully charged.
Weighing in at under one pound, the device has simple playback controls for power, menu access, up/down (for flipping through songs), and play/pause. It also looks insanely cool, with a sleep satin aluminum case, an LCD multiple-status display, a velocity-sensitive volume control, and an mSATA slot. The latter can be upgraded to deliver up to 1TB of music, but you’ll need to install this option by opening the back cover. Having that kind of storage means that the Flow can be used to carry a lot of music, as well as business files, presentations, back-up and other data.
“We’ve perfected the art and the ease of delivering high resolution audio in the home with our award-winning music servers,” said Harry Lee, Aurender’s director. “With Flow, it’s possible to bring the high-resolution listening experience wherever you go, all at an unmatched price. Flow quite simply is the future of quality personal audio, being much more affordable for consumers—and it’s here today.”
Aurender is packaging the Flow with a leather case. It’s shipping now, priced at $1,295.
