Is it possible to get a better picture than a 4K resolution? Samsung Electronics is certainly trying to deliver that, by making something truly special with the new SUHD TV. The S in SUHD doesn’t stand for “special” or even “super,” but it’s certainly both of those things. This brand new TV technology promises to take 4K Ultra HD TV to the next level using nano-crystal technology and the SUHD re-mastering engine. The end result boasts better contrast, brightness and color. Each SUHD set also has a curved design, for a more immersive viewing experience. To test out the quality of these sets, Samsung has been working with 20th Century Fox to optimize content. Recently, the Fox Innovation Lab remastered scenes from Ridley Scott’s Exodus, making it perfect for the SUHD TV experience.
Each new SUHD will also include Smart TV features powered by the open-source platform known as Tizen. Besides creating a faster, more user-friendly Smart Hub on one screen, these sets have Quick Connect for pairing a smartphone with the big screen. Other smart features will include UHD movies and TV shows from providers such as Amazon, Comcast, DIRECTV, M-GO, and Netflix. Samsung is even planning to launch Samsung Sports Live and the Milk Video platform for web videos. Having Tizen will also eventually allow Samsung Smart TVs to receive more content and work with other devices in the home. Samsung plans to offer three series of SUHD TVs. The JS9500, JS9000 and JS8500 will have a total of nine screen sizes, ranging from 48 to 88 inches. Prices and availability are expected to be announced soon.
