We’re seeing more smart home solutions than ever. This is a good thing. Now, what should you do with all of those existing “dumb” objects that you have cluttering up the house? You can smarten those up too, thanks to littleBits.
The company just launched the littleBits Smart Home Kit, a new package that allows DIYers to turn any home into a smart home. That’s because it uses the power of the recently launched cloudBit, which lets you “snap the Internet to anything.”
That “anything” includes everything from the coffee machine and curtains to pet feeders and refrigerators. According to littleBits, even the toilet paper roll can be automated to make sure you’re always stocked.
The littleBits Smart Home Kit comes with 14 Bits, including the cloudBit and five new Bits: the MP3 player, the Threshold, the Number, the Temperature Sensor, and the IR transmitter. It also includes 14 project ideas and 11 accessories.
“Our mission is to put the power of electronics in the hands of everyone, and to break down complex technologies so that anyone can build, prototype, and invent. Democratizing the smart home industry is one more step in delivering on that promise,” said Ayah Bdeir, founder and CEO of littleBits. “The Smart Home Kit is giving people the power and opportunity to take the Internet of Things movement into their own hands, and bring their home to the 21st century, on their own terms. Now you can recreate a popular smart device, retrofit an old appliance, or invent something entirely new that may be the next big thing.”
The littleBits Smart Home Kit is available now, with an MSRP of $249.
