A few months back, CE Pro reported that Big @ss Fans and Nest declared themselves to be the founding members of the Thread Group. The new organization hopes to promote recent innovations for the connected home. And it looks like the group’s first order of business was to bring a few of its own products together.
Big @ss Fans just announced that it can now be integrated with the Nest thermostat. Of course, if you have the company’s Haiku with SenseME fan running, you probably don’t want to crank up the air conditioner. That makes sense. However, this new partnership automates the process, with the SenseME automatically suggesting higher temperatures, which users can select from an iPhone.
After a while, both the fan and the thermostat will learn your new, energy-efficient preferences and adjust accordingly.
“Our integration with Nest is all about creating more energy-efficient smart homes, and that ought to be a priority for this country,” said Carey Smith, founder of Big @ss Fans. “Our Haiku with SenseME ceiling fan and the Nest thermostat make it easy for you to save energy — and look good doing it.”
First announced back in June, the Haiku with SenseME will begin shipping next week. The app is free for iOS devices, with an Android version expected later this year.
