Last year, Securifi created a lot of buzz with its Almond WiFi Router. Now, the company is hoping to reach a larger audience and a larger number of devices, with its new Almond+.
The Almond+ has a color touchscreen and what the company is calling “an integrated Smart Home hub.” According to Securifi, the Almond+ can be used to tweak heating and cooling, check on doors and windows, and control lighting.
It does all that via support for Z-Wave and Zigbee, as well as iOS and Android apps. Out of the box, the router will support hundreds of existing products. The Almond+ also supports dual-band 802.11ac wireless technology, which can do speeds around 1.1 gigabits.
Also, having that 2.8-inch color touchscreen with the 320-by-240 resolution means that no PC, Mac or CD is needed for setup.
“We are creating a revolutionary new wireless router that is simple to use, features the fastest possible connectivity speeds and delivers the ultimate connected home automation experience to help make people’s lives easier and their world a smarter place,” said Rammohan Malasani, Securifi’s founder and CEO. “Ever since the introduction of Wi-Fi more than a decade ago, the way most of us interact with this technology hasn’t changed much at all. We are confident that the market is ready and we are looking to backers on Kickstarter to help us bring this exciting new product to market and share in our success.”
Securifi plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund the Almond+. The funding goal is $250,000, but you will only need to cough up $99 to secure your Almond+ Wireless Router.
