Over the past two years there have been a number of new products that allow users to wirelessly send uncompressed 1080p HD video from one component to a TV in another part of the house (or just across the room). These systems are perfect for people who want to hide their components without running long wires or who want to share a cable box or Apple TV with more than one television.
IOGEAR just came out with a better one that allows 5 HDMI components to be connected, and it can feed two TVs at once.
The Wireless 5×2 HD Matrix is the first product capable of sending two separate full, uncompressed 1080p sources to two HD TVs or projectors from up to five sources. It also does switching and allows you to control the distant sources remotely.
For example, say you have a cable DVR, Roku and Blu-ray player in the living room, and you want to send content from those sources to the bedroom or den TV. The signal works up to 100 feet and does not require a line-of-sight connection.
The system comes with a transmitter, receiver, remote and IR blaster which allow you to switch and operate all five connected components from the other room.
It will be available in a few months for $399.
