HP wants you to put your greasy mitts on a lot more of its monitors. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the company is working on a variety of devices that include its TouchSmart technology—most notably, a laptop computer. IMS Research recently said they expect the number of mobile touchscreen handsets to surge to 230 million by 2012. iSuppli added in PCs and other touchscreen devices to jack that number up to 800 million by 2013. Everyone in the CE space is boasting its green features these days. Dell is wedging its spot on bandwagon with the Studio Hybrid mini PC. Boasting a form factor that’s 80 percent smaller than the standard desktop, Dell’s computer creation is about the size of a collegiate dictionary. The small size also cuts down on power consumption, with Dell saying it uses up to 70 percent less energy. Not enough? Even the packaging materials are 95 percent recyclable, and there’s a system recycling kit included.…

Shuttle first showed off the SN78SH7 at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. Now, it’s actually coming out. We love when that actually happens… Engadget says that starting this Friday, the slick, small unit will actually be available. As part of Shuttle’s Glamor series, it’s certainly pretty on the outside. However, we are partial to what’s on the inside of this square unit. That lengthy list includes NVIDIA’s latest GeForce 8200 Chipset, support for AMD Phenom X4 Quad-Core Processors, 7.1-channel surround sound, support for 1080i/1080p…

While it may not be as cute as the Hello Kitty laptop, the CherryPal mini PC is still pretty sweet. This little guy allows users to surf the web, do word processing, rock out to iTunes, and everything else you’d expect from a regular old PC. However, it doesn’t have many moving parts, which means it could actually last a while—and boasts a green design, which only uses 2 watts of power. Although you might expect a lack of moving parts to leave a lot…

Acer just announced the Acer Aspire one, a mobile “Internet device” that looks strangely like a laptop. Of course, it is a laptop. However, it’s a $379 laptop—and it includes plenty of extras to boot. Aside from access to your email, Facebook, and other web applications, the lightweight unit includes VoIP calling features, a webcam for streaming video, and more. “It’s an excellent introductory device for both students and others to browse the Internet and take advantage of online research, social networking, streaming video and…

If you’re anything like me, you’ve had your fair share of computers. In fact, I think I’ve had more desktops and laptops in the past five years than I’ve had dogs over my entire lifetime—and I get just as attached! Instead of swapping out hardware every few years (or months), there are ways to take care of your trusty PC. Of course, you don’t want to give it to the monkey in that old American Tourister commercial. That seems pretty obvious. There are a few…
