Well now the options for your media room gaming haven are even tastier. Nintendo has announced that it’s dropping the price of the hugely popular Wii console by $50, to $199, starting this Sunday. The OnLive Game Service makes its debut this week with an expected official launch later this year, bringing you subscription games without the need for an Xbox or PlayStation and the like. OnLive will let gamers choose from the console-neutral games stored on its servers in acting as a “virtual console”—you’ll be able to play the games on PCs or your big-screen TV. “Were providing you with the latest high-end titles, the exact…

Hoping to take a chunk of business away from GameStop, Amazon.com is launching a new video game trade-in program. While the Amazon venture may be more convenient (online as opposed to in-store), some gamers believe Amazon will struggle because it doesn’t have GameStop’s…

When Blockbuster says Total Access, apparently it’s really trying to live up to the billing. The company may still be better known for its brick-and-mortar rental stores, but subscribers to Blockbuster’s Total Access online rental plans have reason to be happy if they’re video game fans. Blockbuster announced it will start delivering video game rentals from all the major platforms—PlayStation 2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii—as part of the service. That adds to the 90,000 or so movies you can select from to receive…

With the prices of Blu-ray players falling steadily (now in the $200 range), Sony is taking steps to justifiy the $399 price tag on the PlayStation 3. Its working on a hybrid video game disc which would also contain an entire movie. “There are a lot of developers who say, we have this game based on a movie, wouldn’t it be great to marry these concepts? We will definitely see this stuff this year,” PS3 marketing executive John Koller tells Video Business. Koller did not…

Now how about we rock this house with a round of “Guitar Hero?” Maybe Nintendo’s new idea won’t be able to dissect your penchant for super-fatty meats and Colt 45, however the company is planning to add professional medical advice to its popular Wii Fit device. That sort of sucks the fun out of things, no? Engadget says the idea is a joint effort between Hitachi, NEC, Panasonic and a nameless health insurance company. Apparently, the system can…
