If you’re looking for Windows Media Center Extenders, and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is pretty much the only game in town these days. Good thing it’s a pretty sweet gaming console too.  Buy.com currently has a refurbished Xbox 360 Pro Package including three games, two controllers, and the other normal goodies, for only $199 with free shipping.  It’s the older 20GB version, but does have an HDMI port and full 1-year MS warranty. From the looks of it, the three games are Dark Sector, Ultimate Alliance… View this story

Nintendo Wii owners beware: about 220,000 Psyclone Essentials and React Wii 4-dock battery recharging stations are being recalled. Apparently the products are causing batteries to overheat, burning people or acting as a fire hazard. So far there have been six reports of overheating and two hand burns. If you own one of these docking stations with serial numbers PSE6501 or RT530, call 888-344-4702 for information on how to get a replacement. Here’s what Psyclone has to say: At Psyclone, we take great pride in providing… View this story

As far as “full HD” 1080p video goes, just about every new HDTV features the resolution but the options for taking advantage of it are still limited. Upscaling DVD players aside, you’ve got native 1080p high-def from Blu-ray players and Blu-ray discs; HD DVD discs and some HD DVD players, some media servers that let you load Blu-ray; on-demand video from satellite providers DirecTV and DISH Network (though Blu-ray scoffs at the satellites’ claims of Blu-ray-like 1080p performance) and the Vudu player; and some web… View this story

Looks like it could be a good week for gamers. According to multiple gaming and deal blogs out there, with the full circular floating around already, Best Buy is advertising a sale that includes “Over 100 Great Games at One Low Price” starting on Sunday, April 26. The one low price? Says $9.99, and it includes games for Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii and DS systems. Best Buy still has this week’s circular on its web site, but April 26 to… View this story

The natural evolution of on-demand programming has extended its reach to gaming. The OnLive Game Service makes its debut this week with an expected official launch later this year, bringing you subscription games without the need for an Xbox or PlayStation and the like. OnLive will let gamers choose from the console-neutral games stored on its servers in acting as a “virtual console”—you’ll be able to play the games on PCs or your big-screen TV. “Were providing you with the latest high-end titles, the exact… View this story

Wii Fit is great when it comes to getting your lazy butt off the couch. However, it doesn’t do a whole lot for upper-body development (yeah, no—I’m not doing those push-ups). Now someone has capitalized on your desire for a full-body workout. Enter the riiflex, a device that turns your Wiimote into a weighted dumbell. Dvice says that two options will be available: 2- and 5-pound add-ons. The beauty is that you can still use the controller, all while pumping some iron. Considering that I… View this story

It used to be that having a special chair was a La-Z-Boy or some other type of recliner. D-BOX’s GPH-120 isn’t just a special chair; it’s a lifemate. That’s probably because it’s really hard to get up out of the hybrid unit. The new chair combines the company’s Motion system with a bunch of gaming goodies, to make this the single most important piece of furniture in your home. Featuring 2Gs of acceleration, the unit can accommodate hours of intense gaming. Once you need to… View this story

You may be able to rock harder than Lars from Metallica, but can you beat him when it comes to storage space? Unless you have roadies, groupies and a mom with an extra large basement, some of those video game-related instruments can soak up a lot of your living room space. The AK Rock Box Gaming and Storage Ottoman doesn’t sound cool and doesn’t even look cool. However, the extra storage it supplies is worthy of your metal horns. In case you are holding back… View this story

SanDisk Rock Band 2 SD card

SanDisk just sold its soul to the “Rock Band” franchise, by emblazoning an SD card with the game’s logo. Way to jump on the “Rock Band” bandwagon! The company says that song downloads for the game can soak up 24MB of memory, and the 2GB SanDisk Rock Band 2 SD gaming card will give Wii users enough storage space for 75 extra songs. Yeah—pretty much any 2GB SD card will give you that. “We are launching the SanDisk Rock Band 2 SD card to enhance… View this story

EA Sports Active

Apparently Nintendo isn’t the only game manufacturer that cares about your money health. Electronic Arts, producers of the mega-Madden franchise, want to get into the fitness game. Hot on the heels of Wii Fit, EA will soon release EA Sports Active. The line, which is also for use with the Wii, will use the Wii controller and a leg strap versus Wii Fit’s balance board. However, this isn’t the only difference. Peter Moore, president of EA Sports, told Forbes that gamers should be prepared to… View this story
