Kensington Wireless USB Docking Station

We’re not entirely sure if Kensington’s Wireless USB Docking Station is the first USB hub to go wireless. However, it does deliver on claims (via MarketWatch) that it’s USB-IF certified, and can deliver speakers, printers, keyboards, and other peripherals, all without having to connect and disconnect devices after each use. Connect the unit to any notebook that supports Wireless USB. It has five USB ports, a DVI-I and a speaker port, which should accommodate plenty of peripherals. No set up or cable clutter is needed—everything… View this story

There are plenty of people that just can’t manage to set up a home network. Leave them with their reasons—and one of Kensington’s ShareCentral products. Each product in this line will allow users to share peripherals aplenty, just by plugging them into a compact USB hub. Depending on the model, the unit can share up to five devices between two computers. Not too shabby. “Everyone is mobile. Then they bring the day’s data, photos and music back to one shared, usually cramped, home computing center… View this story

The promotion will save you anywhere from $700 to $4,000, so now is the time to stock up for your home and/or office. Those interested in the deal will need to purchase one product at full price from distributors and resellers of D-Link solutions. It’s not a free-for-all, though. The… View this story

Choosing the Right HD Gaming Equipment
Adam Dioria
05/02 08:05 AM, 8 Comments
Break out the champagne and joysticks – thanks to HD-friendly blockbusters like The Orange Box, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and Grand Theft Auto IV, interactive entertainment is back in a major way. (Recession aside, mega-retailer GameStop’s profits grew a whopping 82% in 2007, with $17.9 billion in industry sales expected this year alone.) But as home theater enthusiasts already know, prepping your pad to make the most of these titles, and next-gen consoles like the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii, isn’t all fun and games.… View this story

No drilling, no wires, and some very respectable coverage. Wireless networks are here and adding one to your home network has never been easier. Eric Deming, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Linksys’ consumer business organization, answers some questions on the topic of basic home networking. What are the basic costs involved in setting up a wireless home network? Not including the computers themselves, there’s the Internet connection, which varies based on your selected service provider, and a wireless router, which varies by technology and quality… View this story

It looks like a computer router, but actually allows for control of lighting, security, thermostats and a whole lot more. Actiontec just announced zControl, a new series of home automation gateways that do just that. Shipping next month, the first incarnation of zControl is a unit that connects to a home router. It can be accessed by a PC or cell phone. The Starter Kit will cost $399. And in case you didn’t already guess it, the z in zControl means the products will have… View this story

OK—you probably read the headline and figured someone was going to be on-call 24/7 to answer your 2am tech problems. Linksys just announced a new and improved version of its Linksys EasyLink Advisor (LELA), which simplifies the setup process for home networking. It looks like Linksys is finally shipping the WRT600N, an 802.11n router with support for 2.4 and GHz frequency bands. Aah… can you feel the coverage? The idea is that you can hook up all of the computer stuff you normally clog your network with, but then have room for things like networked game consoles and set-top boxes. If your home office is a mess, you should take a peek under that desk. It’s a virtual (and digital) land mine. Instead of adding more wires and gadgets to the problem, D-Link’s DUB-9240 allows you to add devices to your network via a separate USB hub. OK—so you will have to add this unit into your mess, but once that’s connected, you can just plug USB devices into the D-Link hub. No more plugging and unplugging junk under your desk or adding and switching… View this story

For some that gets frustrated easily (hello?), Belkin’s Network USB Hub is a dream. This allows you to add five of your favorites, as long as they can hook via USB. Belkin says that you can add printers, cameras, hard drives and other neat things. Add in a wireless router and you can access all of that stuff from your… View this story
