Ratchet & Clank (PS3)

Developer Insomniac has been making Ratchet and Clank games since 2002. These are family-friendly games with both platforming and shooting elements (the latter minus the gore).

Ratchet is a space wombat and Clank is his diminutive robot sidekick. Defeated enemies drop nuts and bolts that are gathered up to be used as currency, allowing Ratchet to improve his arsenal of bizarre weapons (example: the Groovitron causes all nearby enemies to break out in dance, affording Ratchet the opportunity to escape unharmed).

This is the game you can play during the holidays when the whole family is still around.
