Halo 3: ODST is kind of a side story to the main series of games. You don’t play Master Chief this time out; instead you jump into the combat boots of several Orbital Drop Ship Troopers.
Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle) and Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) lend their voices to Buck and Dare, which adds to the fun if your giftee is a geek, like me. The rather short campaign has you exploring the streets of New Mombasa as the Covenant are invading (trust me, your Halo fan knows what I’m talking about).
Lots of collectibles encourage replays, which somewhat alleviates the short campaign issue. Both co-op and competitive multiplayer options add to the value, but again, this is a gift only for players who have played the earlier Halo games.
