There may be plenty of slackers in your life, but this one is no loafer. The G2 is a slimmer version of the original Slacker portable, which allows users to take music on the go. However, it’s not the slick, shiny player that makes us root for this underdog. The real hook is that the G2 holds the Slacker interactive web radio service, storing standard Slacker radio stations or customized ones based on your favorite artists. Built-in Wi-Fi refreshes the stations, but you don’t have to be connected to listen. It works just fine on planes and trains, or just when you want to lie around in your own angst. Two versions of the G2 are available: One holds 4GB and 25 Slacker stations, and another doubles that capacity for just $50 out of our budget range.
