I’m confused?  How is an overpriced, underperforming JVC RS1 a ‘big picture’ highlighted item?

I would throw it to the Dishonorable side of things when a company puts a fancy box around an inferior product and tries to gouge consumers.

Heck, for that money I’m suprised it doesn’t say Bose right on it.

AV_Integrated is mistaken. The BlackWing Three is not an RS1. It is based on the RS2 engine, but this is where the similarity ends. Just as an AMG-tuned Mercedes shares the same engine as an off-the-line Mercedes, the specially tuned engine in all Cineversum 3-chip projectors pushes the envelope of performance to the limit.

But more importantly, what separates Cineversum’s (CV) BlackWing line is its software and color gamut. Out of the box, CV’s BlackWing One, BlackWing Two, and BlackWing Three, are all pre-tuned for the CIE-709 HD color space that’s inherent in all Blu Ray and HD broadcast sources. This can’t be said for competing LCoS products from JVC or Sony. Many of the major criticisms by top reviewers about the JVC or Sony LCoS projectors to date, have been about how they are not pre-tuned for the 709 HD color space. Once the pre-tuning is set at the factory, it’s difficult if not impossible to get the tuning back to where the home theater specialist needs it to be. CV has eliminated anything to do with the presentation market, or the digital cinema market, tunings.

Even if almost perfect, every projector is different from its brother. Cineversum techs (and our authorized dealers) have access to hidden menus and software. Thanks to this access and their technical expertise at the factory, each unit is calibrated one by one. This optimization is aimed at providing accurate balance of grey scale (ideal balance between white and black), color space and gamma tracking. They also align the white field uniformity in order to get a wide palette of luminance.

Because of their specially engineered casings, all Cineversum BlackWing projectors are at least 3dB quieter than their OEM counterparts. That’s twice as quiet! Dismiss the beautiful casing if you will, but high-end, design-oriented clients and their interior designers LOVE it, and prefer having a choice. Always. Besides being available in multiple custom colors and a Chrome version, the paint used is the same one which is used in the car industry, and extremely expensive. Every piece is unique and demands lots of time and quality control, plus 3 weeks more to dry.

There’s even a benefit for the installer: Push the BlackWing all the way against a back wall and the wing-like overhang actually provides for a protective raceway and thus protects the HDMI inputs so they can’t be crushed or bent. The HDMI cable can then run out the back side of unit.
