TiVo HD DVR

After months of bleeding the public with the Series3 ($900), TiVo finally unleashed it’s much cheaper, yet still pretty, TiVo HD. A cheaper chipset meant that the box wouldn’t get the THX approval stamp. However, with 20 hours of HD to keep you mesmerized, who cares? And before you stoop to use the 180 hours of standard-def, the company just made the box compatible with external devices, like Western Digital’s My DVR Expander, which adds another 500GB of storage. Other new features allow you to swap video between TiVo units, as well as PCs and portable players, via TiVoToGo.

Price: $299
